OUR HISTORY

From a Dream to a Movement

Living Word Christian Center International began with just six people and a shared dream. On February 7, 2024, in a modest rented space at 1207 Prairie Street in downtown Houston, the first public Bible Study was held—marking the beginning of a vision that had been years in the making.
But the roots of this ministry stretch back to 1996, when Pastor D. Felix Allison answered the call to ministry. After years of faithful leadership with Life Church International, Resurrection Power Ministries International, and service in the military, Pastor Allison and & First Lady Lynn Allison
reconnected in 2016 with longtime friend, Willis Plummer. Their reunion in Houston sparked a season of prayer, planning, and preparation for a new kind of church—one that would reflect the beauty of diversity and the power of unity in Christ.
Pastor Allison envisioned a church that was intentionally intercultural: a spiritual home not only for those of African heritage, but for people from every background and walk of life. The founding team dreamed of a place where the unchurched could encounter the life-changing message of Jesus in a welcoming, relevant, and safe environment. They imagined a community where every person would be seen, known, and valued—a church where everybody is somebody, and Jesus is Lord.
With the support of Bro. Gregory Johnson in finding our first location, the vision took its first public step in early 2024. As momentum grew, so did the congregation. On July 28, 2024, Living Word Christian Center International opened its doors for Sunday Worship at its new location: 2201 Preston Street, Houston.
Today, we continue to build on that foundation—empowered by faith, united in purpose, and aligned for impact.

OUR BELIEFS

  • SCRIPTURE: We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the Word of God, written perfectly under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and are to be strictly and reverently understood according to the author’s original intent; that they are inerrant in the original writings; and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and practice. (Luke 24:27, 44; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Peter 3:15b-16).

  • THE GODHEAD: We believe that there is one living and true God. We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and that these three are one God having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections and worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence, and obedience, each one executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:18-19; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3-4; Titus 3:3-7; Hebrews 1:1-3; I Peter 1:2-3; Revelation 1:4-6).

  • THE PERSON AND WORK OF JESUS CHRIST: We believe in Jesus Christ, that He is truly God and truly man, God’s eternally begotten Son, and that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning work on Calvary, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His glorious ascension into heaven, His endless reign, and His future personal, visible return to the earth.

  • FALL OF MAN: We believe that God created man in innocence, but by willful disobedience, man sinned (Rom. 5:12-19), and because of this, everyone is a sinner (Rom. 3:10-23) with an inherited sinful nature (Psa. 51:5). Therefore, man is under just condemnation (John 3:19) without defense or excuse (Rom. 5:16-18).

  • SALVATION: We believe that salvation is of the Lord (Phil.1: 6) on the merit of the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:24-26). Salvation is a free gift (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:23) which excludes any possible merit on the basis of works (Eph. 2:8-9; II Tim. 1:9; Titus 3:5). We believe that the two essential doctrines that must be present in every lost person who wants to be saved are repentance (Acts 2:38) and faith (Acts 6:31; Rom.10:9-10).
